RETURN OF THE DREADED MASSIVE IMAGE WARNING: This photo collage is HUGE! If you don't think your connection is fast enough to load it sometime before 2009, the photos can all be viewed individually here: [link]
Once again, uploading way after the fact: I wore this on Sunday of AD07...back in March. Life. You know, it happens sometimes.
Right, this is me cosplaying Kaoru (Dir en grey) wearing what he did at the 1999 Osaka Jo Hall live (no, I wasn't there--DVDs are magical things, I assure you). For whatever reason I wore this on Sunday...I was only there on Sunday for a couple hours. This is pretty dang accurate (I don't have the ID card on it because I haven't decided if I want it there or not, and the back of my hair isn't sticking up because I didn't realize I forgot to spray the extensions for it until a day before I needed them), so I wish I wore it longer/instead of my work in progress "Gauze" cosplay. Next time, I'm getting a full day out of this one!
Details that may not be obvious:
-The back laces up like a corset--makes it easier to adjust and theoretically, hold it's shape, but it seems to have its limits as you'll notice in the guitarless picture: the shirt is sort of bunched up--probably happened when I took the guitar off.
-The white part on my black tights are...another pair of tights. Tights destruction never fails to be fun.
-The undershirt is two pairs of...wait for it...more destroyed nylons/tights.
-The pockets are actually functional! They snap closed with plastic fasteners. You can see the webbing flowing in the breeze in one of those pics.
Materials
-black 2-way stretch pvc for the dress and bum-flaps (sort of a skirt I guess)
-some plaid bits on the bum-flap/skirt hybrid
-about 5 plastic fasteners: 3 on the top opening and two on the pockets (with the super-long black webbing that got caught in my car door no less than three times)
-3 black pairs of tights. 1 White pair
-the rockin' boots...again
-The back hair extensions...they like to hide in most picture, I'm afraid...
Time:
50-70 hours. Hard to tell: part I made at "iconbleste:'s house because my old sewing machine was being crabby with me and then I finished it up at home when my machine stopped being a brat.
Haha--I'm sure you can! It's actually one of his easiest outfits out there (from the VK years anyway) and a convenient excuse to watch the "Osaka Jo Hall" DVD (or VHS...I totally used to have that back when DVDs were regarded as the stuff of legends that only the rich kids at school had XD) countless times and not look foolish.
Glad you like mine though and consider it worth "living up to"--I'm really flattered! I effin' never get comments on my cosplays!
Also glad you're going to cosplay this same Kaoru--no one ever does! No idea why other than the severe lack of references. I think I got this thing pretty accurate (minus the silly card-holder-thing which is currently residing detached on my desk because I still don't know if it'll wreck the sheer badassity of this or not, and the back hair piece that I'm still -metaphorically- kicking myself for neglecting to finish spiking in time), so if you wanna shoot any questions about it my way, feel free! There are enough elitist cosplayers running around and I have no plans to join their snobby, unhelpful ranks. XD
...I talk too much--my sincerest apologies!

Um, no, it's not a real Ganesa--sorry! It's an ESP F-200 (sort of the far cheaper and American version of the ESP Forest from what I can tell). The real ESP Ganesa is something like $6,000! And the Edwards series one is $1,100, which is a ridiculous amount for a guitar that looks awesome, but definitely isn't as nice playing-wise as some less flashy ones for that kind of money. -____- Still, I kind of wish I was rich enough to have a real one! XD
Anyway, thanks so much for both favorites! Means a lot to me that people actually like my work!

Really? It seems like no one ever makes Kaoru's "Osaka Jo Hall" outfit--I think most people do "Myaku" instead. I'm glad someone else did this cosplay too!
And thank you so much for the compliment--means a lot! Ah, and appreciate both of the +favs too!

Just, like, wow.
Btw, is that a real Ganesa? Cause if it is, I swear, I'm gonna praise you even further!
